On Saturday, August 6th I took Moose, Tater and Louie out to Bright Horizons for their renovation celebration. As you may know, I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mommy so I don’t “need” child care but sometimes I wish I could have some, especially after seeing this place! I haven’t been inside of a day care since I attended one myself (and that was not a pleasant experience at ALL) but this place was amazing!
When we pulled up (late,of course) they were doing the “ribbon” cutting ceremony; all of the teachers and kids were gathered around a paper chain and all of the kids’ had scissors ready to go. I tried to stand back so that we wouldn’t interrupt but a teacher came right up to us and offered the kids scissors and invited them up to cut the ribbon with the group. I tried to tell them to scoot closer to the chain but they didn’t so when it was cut Moose was crying because he didn’t get to cut it and a teacher came up and helped him find a piece to cut.
I met up with the loveliest lady, Amy,who gave me a tour of place! There was so much to see,the school had so many beautiful rooms. We started on the playground (which is going to be renovated very soon and will be amazing!) she showed me the coolest thing, these little holes that they placed in the fence - they are peep holes so that the kids can watch the trains that go by right behind the playground!
Next we stopped in the gym; talk about the place to be! There is a gymnastics area, a basic tumbling type area, dance floor and rock climbing wall! Yes, a rock climbing wall inside. I couldn’t keep the kids off of it!
Something else that this school offers that made me really think it was great was this lady-
That is Ms. Beth Epley, she is the best! She comes to the school pretty often and sings and tells silly stories that the kids really adore. I must say that I had just as much fun as the kids! I couldn’t stop smiling while watching her! She gets into the characters in her story and really draws you in.
There was so much fun to be had inside the school and you could just feel the warmth of the building. I kept commenting about how warm and inviting it felt! The walls were warm, earthy colors. Each room had plants, most had living animals of some kind and they all had little tiny furniture which always makes me happy! I love kid sized stuff and I know it makes the kids feel welcome. There was fabric hanging in most of the rooms too,it just made it feel nice. My child care when I was young had white walls, red carpet and nothing with any color and I remember hating it and feeling unwelcome!
The kids go to the gym every day and art pretty often too, they have a fully stocked art closet!
If I were going to trust my kids with any child care place it would be this one for sure! The people were so nice and friendly. If you are looking for a place to send your kids you should check out the Bright Horizon’s in your area, they are nationwide and also in Canada and other countries too!
I left wondering if my kids would be better off in child care because they do so much more each day than we do and the kids left literally begging me to let them stay and asking if we can go back soon. They are still talking about it and they even said it was “the best place ever” and I am not making that up! I planned to stay an hour or so and the kids were so taken by the school that we stayed for 3!
A special thanks to Amy and Dianna for allowing me to visit and for giving me a tour of their beautiful renovated building!
